      What is a Corneotherapist?

A corneotherapist is somewhere between a skin therapist and a dermatologist.

A corneotherapist is a skin therapist who has done a LOT more training.  Corneotherapy is based on the idea that to treat skin conditions, a Corneotherapist needs to focus on repairing and maintaining the skin’s barrier defence systems.

      Corneotherapy.org states

The goal of the Corneotherapist is to address the cause of the skin conditions, not merely treat the symptoms.

Sometimes a skin therapist who does not practice Corneotherapy may not have the training needed to diagnose or treat your skin condition.  In some cases, the products you are using on your skin can actually make some skin conditions worse.

Some dermatologists practice the remedial skin treatment methodology of Corneotherapy.  And  a dermatologist is also able to prescribe medications, if required.

Not sure what you need?  A great place to start is by making an appointment with a Corneotherapist.  They will be able to tell you whether your skin condition is something they can help with.  This might be through regular skin therapy treatment, or via Corneotherapy.  Or they may refer you to a dermatologist or other specialist.

      What can a Corneotherapist Treat?

Your first Corneotherapy consultation will begin with a very detailed interview, appraisal and examination.  This will cover your lifestyle, product usage and history.  It will also include a thorough examination of your skin.

Only after this analysis, the Corneotherapist will advise what they feel is your skin condition.  They will also suggest a course of treatment, possibly referral to a specialist and/or a salon and home care products.

Some of the skin conditions a Corneotherapist can treat include...

      Eczema / Dermatitis

Caused by Inflammation of the skin. Babies, Children, Adults.

      Acne

Caused when redundant skin cells and oil from the skin clog hair follicles. Teen, adults.

      Hyperpigmentation

Discolouration from sun damage, inflammation, injury.

      Burns / Scarring

Corneotherapy can help to reduce the visual effect.
